Company History

Alta Ridge traces its roots back to Guy Mendenhall, who pioneered assisted living beginning in 1983.

Guy's experience in senior care began in 1983 when he took full-charge care of his grandmother.  After a bad experience in a senior care facility, Guy’s mother and father agreed to allow him to provide care for his grandmother in his own home.  From there, Guy’s love for the elderly grew, and he soon got involved in foster adult care which led to six elderly women living with him and his family. Guy and his family enjoyed their senior care tasks; they worked to provide everything for their senior residents including the cooking, cleaning, bathing, activities, van rides, etc.

In 1986 Guy opened a larger senior care facility, Elderly Manor in Holladay, Utah.  The name was changed to Alta Ridge Holladay.  Guy’s vision of a home-like senior care facility providing quality, personalized care became a reality.
